چکیده

The second term in the denominator of (5) represents the nonlinear emitter resistance of the amplifying transistors Q 3 and Q 6 , which is the primary source of IMD in the doubleAbstract A further development in the application of negative feedback techniques to active double-balanced mixers is described, in which the concept of single-transformer lossless feedback is employed to improve both the intermodulation intercept point and the noise figure. A generalized topology is described, and test data describing and comparing the performance of example series-shunt and lossless feedback active mixers is presented.

Low noise, high linearity double-balanced active mixers using lossless feedback

performance while requiring a considerably less LO power than is required of Class III diode ring mixers having comparable performance [6]. However, the topology has provided little improvement in the NF of earlier active mixer topologies. In the lossless feedback active mixer, an input IF (or RF) signal having amplitude A and frequency ω S is applied differentially to the input terminals of a ...

Monolithic RF Active Mixer Design

An overview of monolithic radio-frequency (RF) active mixer design is presented. The paper is divided into two parts. The first part discusses the performance parameters that are relevant to the design of downconversion mixers, and how they affect the system performance. The second part presents three common kinds of mixer topologies, namely, unbalanced, singlebalanced, and double-balanced desi...

Linearization Techniques for Mixers

In the modern high-performance transceivers, mixers (both upand down-converters) are required to have large dynamic range in order to meet the system specifications. The lower end of the dynamic range is indicated by the noise floor which tells how small a signal may be processed while the high end is determined by the non-linearity which causes distortion, compression and saturation of the sig...

Characterization of IIP2 and DC-Offsets in Transconductance Mixers

Envelope distortion in transconductance mixers is analyzed in this paper. The analysis consists of a simplified theoretical study, simulation results, and measurements about several implemented mixers. The studied mixers are active single-balanced and double-balanced structures. A theoretical mismatch analysis is carried out instead of a complex mixer nonlinearity analysis; this gives an intuit...

ACTIVE MIXERS FOR DIRECT CONVERSION RECEIVERS WITH 0.35-μm BiCMOS

In this paper, the design requirements of different mixers for direct conversion receivers are discussed. Special attention has been paid into the detection of amplitude-modulated RF signal envelope. Three active mixers have been implemented to investigate the discussed requirements by using a 0.35-μm, 25-GHz BiCMOS technology. The same process allows an objective comparison between the differe...
